STEPS FOR CAR MAINTENANCE

Key Maintenance Steps

Belts and Hoses: Inspect for cracks, brittle rubber, or leaks.

Engine Oil and Filter: Check oil levels monthly using the dipstick; change oil and filter according to the mileage or time frame recommended by the manufacturer.

Tires: Check tire pressure monthly to prevent blowouts and improve fuel efficiency. Rotate tires every 5,000–10,000 miles to ensure even wear.

Fluid Levels: Regularly inspect and top up essential fluids, including:

Coolant: Prevents engine overheating.

Brake Fluid: Ensures braking safety.

Windshield Washer Fluid: For visibility.

Transmission Fluid: Ensures smooth shifting.

Air Filters: Replace the engine air filter to maintain engine efficiency.

Battery: Check for corrosion on terminals and ensure cables are secure. Clean terminals with a wire brush every six months.

Brakes: Inspect brake pads and rotors regularly; look for worn pads (screeching sounds) or a spongy pedal.

Wipers and Lighting: Replace wiper blades when they skip or smear. Check all lights, including headlights and turn signals.

Spark Plugs: Replace worn spark plugs to maintain optimal engine performance and efficiency.

Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Annually/Long-term: Replace engine air filter, check brake pads, inspect suspension, flush coolant/brake fluid, and replace spark plug

Every 3-6 Months: Check oil, top up fluids, inspect wipers, and check tire pressure.

Every 10,000 km/6,000 miles: Change engine oil, oil filter, and rotate tires

Motor Vehicle Maintenance

Safety Check: Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and test the air conditioning

Cleaning: Wash and wax the exterior to prevent rust.

Detailing: Clean the engine bay, tires, and interior to keep the vehicle in good condition.
